I mean, personally, I've never been such a big fan of the Final Fantasy series, but I don't feel the need to barge into every discussion made about it, to express my dislikes about it. Yet that undoubtedly happens every single time Halo is even remotely brought up in a discussion.
Guild Wars actually gets treated much the same way, at least by the serious MMO players. Many people just ignore it or brush it off as being garbage, usually without even having played it.

You need to reword one of your sentences...
"The majority of gamers won't even recognize the advancements it's made for it's genre, ONLY ON consoles."
Halo made no advancements in the FPS genre itself, the PC has always been superior, and will always remain that way. Halo is a mediocre shooter when compared to PC bound shooters. It has a decent story line, a decent control scheme (for using a controller), and really, sub-par graphics (even the final game which I now have has shady graphics for as much hype as it has received) Frankly, it is over hyped and underwhelming, just as I thought it was going to be. The 4 Player Co-Op is fun though.
Halo is a well rounded series and is a great CONSOLE shooter, but in the FPS genre, it sits somewhere with the Medal of Honor series and Call of Duty series... the same old same old with different looks and new names. The story line is all it has to set it apart, and even that is dismal vs Half Life 2.

Fixed.
But really I agree. I enjoy the Halo games, make no mistake, but saying it revolutionized shooters or doesn't get the respect it deserves is rubbish. It's a good game that has a borderline-zealous fanbase, that's all.

I can't agree more. I got Halo 1 about 2 years ago, its a fun game. Played Halo 2 story and multiplayer at a friends house who has a xbox and was not impressed. What is even worse is that when it finally got released for PC when it was three years old it was sold for $50, and only on vista. The vista part was fixed (with a very nice unofficial patch) but that doesn't mean that it is worth that much money for that old of a game. They are also hyping it up to "finish the fight" or some bullshit like that, as if any one believes that Micro$oft will actually tell Bunjie to stop making a game that will make them several hundred million dollars and sell 8 million copies.

HALO: Combat Evolved = Awesome
HALO 2 = button mashing newb's wet dream.
HALO 3 = Tried to capture some of the magic of HALO, graphics are better it haven't played it much can't really say much beyond that.
As for the hype...most of the fan base is as responsible for it as MS. If people wouldn't go out actually buy all that crap half it would have never been made. That includes all the dumb asses who bought legendary edition for 170 bucks because it came with a mini replica helmet that might fight on a cat or a medium size dog at best.
On a side note I do believe that if Bungie would not have sold out to MS the HALO series would probably on par if not better than all the Half Life games and its spin offs.

I was going home yesterday back from work and listening to the radio, they actually said while playing music and I quote "playing today's hits while your are playing Halo"
Halo 2 was a disappointment comparing to Halo 1, still have not played Halo mainly because I don't have a 360 but maybe one day when its out on PC.
